Don’t get me wrong, I love Darren Criss. I thought he was a perfect Finch, and I love him on Glee. But, I think “A Very Potter Musical” is a disgrace to Broadway.

Well, you know what? Without A Very Potter Musical, he wouldn’t be on Glee, or on Broadway, so just consider that before you call it a disgrace.

Also, may I just ask why? It was meant as a parody, not a legitimate, “someday we’re going to be on Broadway” musical. It was made by Harry Potter fans who wanted to take the fandom to the next level.

And I can think many worse musicals… Shrek The Musical, for instance.

but um, a disgrace to musical theater? no. Some of the songs are amazing. Granger Danger? Back to Hogwarts? Voldemort is Going Down? Quality stuff.

I’d like to know what people think is bad about AVPM.  It’s a parody. It’s meant to poke fun at stuff. So… what is it? the story? the costumes? the set? The story is based on Harry Potter- you can’t really go wrong there. The set/costumes- considering they didn’t have much of a budget, I’d say they did fairly well. If your complaint is the sound/video- that’s easily argued too because it wasn’t meant to be professionally filmed.

I don’t see how AVPM is a disgrace to musical theatre. I mean technically it may not be the best quality musical ever produce, I get that. But musical theatre is about creativity and sharing experiences. It is about telling stories and moving people. When they produced AVPM, they were a bunch of college students just doing what they had a passion for. I don’t understand how anyone could call it a disgrace to musical theatre.
